Additional plugins can expand a website with features that improve maintenance and the visitor experience. The Animation Horizon uses three new plugins—Broken Link Checker, Simple Lightbox, and Reading Time WP—to support website maintenance, visual content, and article navigation. Each plugin adds a practical function that complements the site’s animation-focused content.
Broken Link Checker
Links to external resources can become unavailable or change over time. Broken Link Checker helps identify links that may no longer work correctly, making it easier to maintain website content. This is valuable for The Animation Horizon because articles may connect visitors to animation resources, studios, and other useful information. Identifying broken links helps keep those resources current and reliable (WPMU DEV, n.d.).
Simple Lightbox
Images play an important role in presenting animation and visual design. Simple Lightbox allows images to open in a larger overlay while visitors remain on the same page. This provides a clearer way to view details in animation artwork, character designs, stop-motion photography, and other visual content featured throughout The Animation Horizon (Archetyped, n.d.).
Reading Time WP
Animation articles can vary considerably in length depending on the subject. Reading Time WP displays an estimated reading time for written content, giving visitors an idea of how long an article may take to complete. This provides useful information before an article is opened and makes longer content easier to approach (WordPress.org, n.d.).
Conclusion
These three plugins introduce practical improvements to The Animation Horizon. Broken Link Checker supports website maintenance, Simple Lightbox improves how visual content is viewed, and Reading Time WP provides useful information about article length. Together, these additions help create a website that is easier to maintain and more convenient to explore.
